The Data Dependent constant neutral loss (DDCNL) scan function significantly expedites the identification of metabolites generated during in vitro biotransformation studies. By scanning a chromatogram in real time for a user-defined constant neutral loss, the DDCNL scan function can trigger an MS3 scan for metabolites that exhibit a particular structural motif. Performing MS3 scans only on those compounds that show the desired neutral loss allows the mass spectrometer to rapidly scan for low intensity ions. This increases the selectivity for identification of metabolic modifications and simplifies the analysis of complex mixtures in biological matrices.
